Karnataka Polls – Repudiating Muslim Vote Bank Politics

This news item that appeared on Sahil Online

?Mr. Akbar Ali Shaikh, the vice-president of the association and Farooque Master Shaikh said that ?On the occasion of the election an announcement is being made in all the Masjids of Bhatkal, and are being directed as to which party or candidate one has to cast their vote to.

?These types of the announcements are wrong?, said Master Farooque speaking on the occasion. ?Each voter has it own legal right to choose their favourite candidate and it is wrong to pressurize the voters to cast their vote to a particular candidate or party.?

?India is a democratic country where every citizen is free, so no organization should make any attempt to pressurize and should have to snatch their right to vote.”

These remarks were in response to the recent press conference held by Majlis E Islah O Tanzeem Bhatkal, in which it had announced about its decision to send their own candidate in the upcoming assembly election in the state from Bhatkal constituency.

The Deccan Welfare Association which held a press meet in which it said that no organization of Bhatkal should assume the Muslim community as their own property.

Joining in this repudiation of Muslim Vote Bank politics were president of the minority cell of Bhatkal unit of JD(S) and Many members who had supported BJP in the last assembly election of Bhatkal.

Offstumped kudos to the Deccan Welfare Association for its repudiation of Muslim Vote Bank politics.
