Ganesh immersion procession was attacked in Muslim area of Vadodara city in Gujarat. Groups of Muslims pelted stones heavily on Kumbharwad’s Ganesha procession when it was passing from Fatehpura area. Shiva temple in Fatepura area was also targeted by stones. Ganesh devotees from different areas and processions rushed to the place soon to defend the procession.
Police lobbed five tear-gas shells to quell the mob. However, stone pelting continued. Mobs set a road-side stall on fire and damaged a shop. A shop was also set on fire in Yakutpura area. At different security points, stones were pelted at the cops in Muslim dominated areas. Even a fire brigade vehicle was attacked by groups of Muslims. Fire man Kanaksinh Zala was injured. One police vehicle was damaged. To get control of the situation, Police fired in the air. Total three people were injured including two senior policemen DCP Gagandeep Gambhir and JCP Praveen Sinha.
In Muslim dominated Yakutpura locality, a platform was set to welcome Ganesha processions. This platform was named as ‘Komi ekta manch(communal harmony stage)’. However once riot erupted, rioter groups of Muslims badly damaged this platform.
Vadodara is the city where fanatic group of Muslims had demonstrated Osama Bin Laden’s posters on road last year. Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts some of the main accused are from Vadodara.
Before some days, when Police were on it’s task to collect names of those living on Ganesh immersion procession rout in Muslim locality of Machchipith, local group of Muslims instead of co-operating the police had protested against such drill.
Ganesh immersion procession was also attacked in Muslim areas of Bharuch recently.
Congress will most likely solve the Delhi blast case and the raise the ante on federal agency to put political pressure on BJP.
Well, it will be a victory for BJP if the Congress solves a terror case. But it should be ready for a political response.

Re. Gujrat Muslims attack Ganesh procession.
A piece of tidbit for everyone, Muslims in Gujarat voted for Narendra Modi / BJP in December 2007. I dont believe this was out of fear, this was due to the fact that the administration has touched lives of all sections of the Gujrati society.
I am in no way advocating that they have come their senses and that one must lower the guard. However, I do feel that by attacking Ganesh processions in Hindu – Marathi dominated areas of Vadodara, certain elements in the Muslim society are fomenting trouble for the entire community.
Last time around I think in 2003 a similar attack was perpetrated on a Ganesha idol and about 20 to 25 K Hindus were out on the streets in no times, they ( Muslims) paid up for their deeds by getting their mosque burnt.
This is minor compared to the seething Hindu anger in the after math of the Amdawad blasts, I believed that there would be an explosion of angry Hindu lava in Gujrat. Narendra Modi saved the day then.
By allowing a section of their community to foment trouble, them Muslims are playing with fire and they will get burnt very badly this time around….
Jiggs, I know that the federal agency was LKA proposal. However, right now Congress is using it a counterpoint to put BJP in a spot. BJP is not opposed to the idea but without tough laws it is meaningless to have a federal agency.

let us get one thing straight. hinduism is not like other religions in that it accepts that there are several ways to God. Pretty much no monotheistic religion accepts that, whether they preach it or not. No Ram, no Krisha. Now if that is the case, isn’t the case that the existence of these very religions in India cannot be tolerated? This is nothing new I am sure. Everyone knows this. In that case, how come even the RSS does not call for these religions to accept that there are many ways to God, or shut shop? I don’t see a meeting ground.

I merely stated the fact…given both these religions share many common facets, esp. in regards to the prophets & their followers, their unrelenting view as to how its their god that matters, nothing else and the most loathesome idea of rammig their values down others’ throats, bu hook or by crook.

NEW DELHI; Brushing aside speculation that he would be asked to step down, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil asserted on Monday that he enjoyed “full blessings” of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
“Well, I have full blessings of my leader,” he told CNN-IBN when asked if he enjoyed the confidence of his leader.
Asked if he felt troubled over the fact that he was not called by Gandhi at a meeting of senior party leaders here this morning, Patil said “do not put me on defensive.
“That is not the style my leader works, my party works. My party’s ethos is to do justice and to see it is done in a manner which contains and control criminal and terrorists activities and at the same time does give any opportunity to human rights violation,” he said.
Patil is under attack over his ministry’s handling of internal security and even some senior Congress leaders said to be critical of the minister, whose attention to sartorial preferences even during the night of Saturday blasts in Delhi have drawn flak.
Refuting charges of intelligence failure, the Home Minister said in all incidents information was given.
“It was available with us in Delhi also. But what was not available was the timing, the place and the method to be used for the purpose,” he said.
Patil said that difficulties arose in the absence of actionable information on the timing and place of the planned attacks.
To a question, he said the Centre had information about the possiblility of terror attack in the national capital even before Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi conveyed it.

India call for tough terror laws
The Indian media has called for tougher laws and strategies to combat attacks by militant groups in the country.
This comes after serial blasts over the weekend killed at least 20 people in the capital, Delhi.
About 90 people were injured when five explosions went off in busy shopping areas within minutes of each other.
A Muslim militant group claimed responsibility in an e-mail to the media. Over 400 people have died since late 2005 in bombings in Indian cities.
The Hindustan Times newspaper said that it was time that “firmer anti-terror laws are put in place – never mind where the suggestions come from”.
“Going by the way we conduct our post-attack investigations and put into place barriers against future attacks, one would be forgiven for thinking we are new to terrorism,” the newspaper said.
The Times of India also hinted at the need to impose tougher anti-terror laws.
“At this time of crisis, some of the liberties that we take for granted might have to be curbed to ensure that terrorists, who follow no norms and rules, are effectively restrained,” the paper said.
The Indian Express criticised the federal government for not doing enough to prevent such attacks.
“… they have simply not done enough to bring closure to any of the terrorist incidents of the past four years, to follow leads thoroughly, to crack the organisations behind the incidents and, consequently, their ability to surprise at another time, another place,” the newspaper wrote.
The Hindu said the spree of attacks “demonstrates that India’s police and intelligence services simply do not have the resources they need to confront an urban terror offensive, unprecedented in its scale and significance”.

As the weekend blasts in the Capital radically turned popular mood against the authorities for their inability to arrest the march of death, pressure came from the top on security agencies to ‘produce results’ in the Delhi blasts case.
A fresh initiative on the federal agency could help the UPA government seize the momentum once again. In the face of BJP leader L K Advani’s strident call for reviving POTA, the proposed federal agency is seen as a face saver.
So there was no pressure to produce results in the earlier blast cases. Now that public opinion is angry, Congress wants results.
Congress has a history of appeasing the minorities at the expense of Hindus. This time is no different.
If this is what is happening in Gujarat, one can imagine what is happening in UP, WB etc.

I don’t want India to become a police state.. Police is corrupt as is and too much power will corrupt it more. We need sophisticated intelligence rather than police brutrality towards the poor. And kindly don’t deny that that happens

Tragedy is that these terrorist loonies have Hindu brains and Muslim psyches (ancestors were converts). No I don’t want to be called racist but the Indian brain in pretty darn good (I’ll go into my offshoot theories).

Muslim organisations condemn serial blasts in Delhi
NEW DELHI, SEPT 14 (PTI)
Muslim organisations have condemned the serial blasts in the national capital, which killed at least 21 and injured 80, terming them as “an act of cowardice by inhuman people”.
“The entire Muslim community is against such terrorist acts. These blasts have proved that Delhi Police is a total failure in handling such situations. The force needs an immediate overhaul,” S M Asif, national president of the All India Minorities Front, said in a press release.
The Indian Muslim Council-USA (IMC-USA) also denounced the synchronised blasts ahead of festive seasons in the capital.
“We condemn this heinous act of mindless violence by cowards. Our sympathies are with the victims and their families,” Rasheed Ahmed, president of the MIC-USA, said.
It called upon the government and the police authorities to put the security of people ahead of communal politics.
All India United Muslim Mocha (AIUMM), in a communique, termed the blasts as an attack on sovereignty, integrity and secularism.
“Terrorism has nothing to do with Islam. Persons involved in such heinous acts cannot claim to be a Muslim,” Kamal Ashraf, spokesperson of the AIUMM, said.
The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) also condemned the serial blasts and said “these are the work of coward beasts who do not believe in any human values or ethics of any kind”.
Zafarul Islam Khan, head of the AIMMM, said the police and intelligence agencies should meticulously probe the blast and nab the real culprits and bring them to justice.

Why do the investigating agency leak out the names of main suspects of bomb blast in media. Is this some kind of signal to the suspects to run away to some other hiding. same has happened in case of delhi blast accussed “tauqueer”. instead of reporting that tauqueer is hiding in mumbai, why dont they find the exact location and arrest him. even a 7 year old child who plays chor police knows that. hats off to Modijis guj cops. their investigations were under cover and only revealed the names of culprits after nabbing them.

Simi held a dozen camps

Sept. 16: Intelligence agencies have discovered the banned Simi had conducted over a dozen training camps across India in 2007-08 to train its cadres to handle arms and ammunition, bomb-making and using wireless sets.
These were attended by Simi leaders Abdul Subhan Qureshi alias Tauqeer (Mumbai); Shahid Badr (Azamgarh); Kamaruddin Nagori, Safdar Nagori (Ujjain); Amil Parvez (Ujjain), an expert in petrol bombs; Shibli (Kerala), who gave training in trek-king and swimming; Hafiz Hussain alias Adnan (Bija-pur), an expert in aiming; Azadulla, who gave wireless training; Yahyat Khan (Bengaluru); Shahbaz Hussain (Badhohi); Imran Ansari (Indore); Irshad Khan (Mumbai), and some others.
Intelligence inputs warn of more strikes on the lines of Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Delhi, over the next few months.
Two meetings of top Simi leaders were held in January and March 2007 at Narsinghgarh, Bhopal, where it decided to adopt the “jihad” strategy. A training camp at CastleRock, near Karnataka’s Hubli, in April was followed by two intensive camps in Bijapur and at a poultry farm in Indore in June.
In August, a camp was held at Dharwad, followed by an intensive training session in November at an Indore farmhouse. Here all recruits were trained in swimming, shooting, gliding and making petrol bombs. Mock attacks were staged.
