MSM has gone into a overdrive in trying to push back all the skeletons that inadvertently fell out of their closet recently. There is a virtual blackout of views/opinions/discussions, apart from sundry ones. If it had been some other professions, they would be screaming about it for days. It is high time that a legislation was implemented for determining offenses related to “Conflict of interest”, “Media hegemony”, “Wrongful media influence” etc. At least a disciplinary board should be setup where erring journalists can be reported, if not tried.
Of all newspapers and magazines, I think The Hindu is most unbiased, understated yet crisp. However , Open magazine from the first issue has been looking and uncovering stories in a very detailed manner unlike other reputed national magazines.
The biggest problem according to me is sitting in office and telephone reporting!
Ah. Ofcourse it is the Pioneer. See what Arun Shourie has to say on this ….
Is the 2G issue a new one? No. It is two years old. I know how I have taken documents to editors, to senior people in government. How can it be that only one reporter in one newspaper The Pioneer was following it? He was not withholding information, but not one newspaper or television channel touched it.
Sadly, The Pioneer is not available in my part of the world so I do choose The New Indian express. As for the least trust worthy, there would be a contest between The Times Of India group & most of the vernacular media. I am pretty close to the people in power in the state that I live in because of my business dealings on a day to day basis and I know how the local (vernacular) media is deeply entrenched with different camps across the political divide. One observation though, BJP has always had a weak spot in the area of media management right since the 90′s (when it was in the ascendancy). May be the idea of Nehuruvian secularism has deeper roots than we accept to believe.

Shriram play by Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra. A celebration of Ramleela before Dussehra which is on 21st October.
Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra enters its 51st year of the presentation of the story of ‘RAM. At the time when ‘RAM’ was first performed in 1957, there were practically no dancers in Delhi and had to be specially brought from Kolkatta and Kerala. Today it is a matter of pride that perhaps almost every school in Delhi – of which there are hundreds – have dance teachers who have performed in this production.
